What Is Taser Certification?

The taser is a highly effective and widely available tool for immobilizing attackers from a safe distance. However, in order to ensure that the proper and justified use of a TASER for self-defense is effective, very specific safety and use training must occur. A Taser Certification is required in some states for those carrying a taser, including security guards, law enforcement, first responders, and other security professionals.

What Will You Learn at Taser Certification Training?

This Taser Certification course will provide the basics for the safe use and deployment of a TASER, along with the circumstances in self-defense where a TASER would impact a situational outcome. After completion of this course, you will have the knowledge you need to properly and effectively utilize a taser.

1. Overview of the Taser electronic control devices

Knowledge of how tasers work is crucial for effective and safe use. Tasers are pistol-type devices that shoot small darts or probes attached to thin, flexible wires. When the darts hit the target, electricity is delivered through the wires, which incapacitate the target.

2. Use of force continuum

Use of force continuum training provides taser users with guidelines for how much force may be used in specific situations. This section of the taser training will provide security guards and others with the ability to make situational judgments on the appropriate use of force.

3. Legal and policy issues

Tasers should only be used in situations of self-defense or protection of others. Regulations for taser use vary from state to state. Learn the legal and policy issues surrounding taser use to ensure you are in line with state requirements.

4. Medical information and risk alleviation

Tasers work by affecting the target’s neuromuscular system and can have impacts on the target’s body. This section of training explores the medical effects of tasers and how to alleviate the risks of taser use.

Taser Certification Requirements

Our Taser Certification course is designed for security guards and others who may need to protect themselves or others, without excessive or lethal force.

If you are a security guard, a law enforcement officer, a first responder, a public safety officer, or another security professional, taser training is important to ensure that you know when and how to effectively use a taser. Should the need for a taser ever arise, your taser training will allow you to use the tool safely and skillfully.

The Taser Certification training provides you with knowledge in all areas of taser use, including how the tool works, when to use it, and legal requirements and medical ramifications of taser use.
